Children of Earth – Sunday Ajak

In the next few, the world will enter into the worst era ever seen in the history of natural life. In the next few years, planet Earth will experience an environmental crisis unlike we have ever seen before.

You thought 2020 was bad? It’s nothing compared to what’s next.

High sea levels will swallow thousands of homes, terrible famine, drought, and hurricanes will starve millions, that’s millions of people, earthquakes will destroy our cities. Disease will spread faster than the wildfires. Water will become more valuable than diamonds. The death toll will be in the billions and guess what?

There will be nothing we can do about it. In the next few years, human beings will become the endangered species.

As we should. For all the years that we’ve existed on this planet; we have changed the very foundation of everything around us.

The human race has accomplished many great things, to say the least. we discovered fire, we invented the wheel, we put a man on the moon, and now we’re learning quantum physics. We are constantly getting smarter and smarter, making new discoveries every single day.

Human beings are many things, but perfect; is not one of them. We have flaws, many flaws. We’re violent, we’re selfish, we’re lazy, we’re ignorant, and above all we’re divided.

What has happened to humanity? For all of our creation, there is just as much destruction.

We create paper; we destroy our trees. We create the internet; we destroy our connection. We create guns; only to destroy each other. But above all we created a way of living, that destroys our home.

Kind of ironic isn't it, in our pursuit to advance our technology, we've not only lost our intelligence as a species, but our humanity is gone. We’ve lost what it was that makes us; us. And not a single person seems to care.

Here we are living on a planet that is literally dying beneath our feet, and we do absolutely nothing about it. Because were too busy going to school, getting a job, getting married, having sex, creating families, and doing everything we possibly can to make our own lives the best it can be. Only to die and lose everything, just as fast as you lived and gained it.

And not many people are able stop what they’re doing for one second, step back, and realize just how sad our world is. We kill each other in the name of freedom, we have small groups of people that control millions of lives, our corporations built their foundations on the backs of children, all in the name of luxury.

The youth are so deep in social media their mental health is more fragile than glass. One wrong text and everything shatters, so many people depressed that personal happiness is just about non-existent.

Everyone wants to be someone else, this person or that person, distorting their faces, their bodies, changing who they are, changing what they think. I don’t even know what’s normal anymore. All of these problems that exist in our society, and we just accept this as life.

Well, if this all that life is, then I don’t want to live anymore. That’s right I said it. I don’t want to be a part of humanities self destruction. I don’t want to be responsible for destroying this planet. I can’t live a normal life; knowing there are people just like me that are starving to death every single day. I refuse to believe that this is what it means to be human.

See the last time I checked, humanity is defined as ‘human beings, collectively’. Collectively not selfishly. See I hate to be the bearer of bad news, I hate to be the one to tell you this but listen to me very closely when I say. This planet is dying. The trees are dying. The oceans are dying. Wildlife is dying. The air is unbreathable, and the food is unsustainable.

14 billion pounds of pollution are dumped into the ocean every single year. 1 million sea creatures will die from congesting plastic in the next 12 months. Every 60 seconds roughly 55, 000 trees are cut down, that equates to about 48 football fields every single minute.

Hundreds of thousands of people will become climate change refugees, losing their homes, and their cities, and we’re too busy storming the capitol building too understand. So, let me educate you. This planet is finite, her resources finite. If this life is left unchecked, then this life will cease to exist.

But don’t get me wrong, I’m not talking about mass genocide, I’m talking about mass unity. See what this world needs, more than anything, is a difference.

For far too long, Earth has endured the plague of humanity. Through our many wars, through our many landfills, through the many holes we put in the O-Zone. We have become the villains in a story that will be told for years to come. Man, vs Machine; and machine has won.

I do not know how many times you need to hear it, for you to finally understand. Life is just as beautiful as the Earth that we live on and equally as complex. The balance that we have here cannot ever be replicated, it cannot ever be found again, it can’t even be seen in our solar system. It deserves to be protected.

So, I am begging you. I am begging every single one of you, every politician, every celebrity, every company, every CEO. We need to change, and we need to change now.

That’s right I’m talking to you Petro, Shell, Aramco, Sinopec, Exxon Mobil, Chevron. Every gas company, every paper company, every single person to ever profit from the destruction of this planet.

I’m talking to all of you but believe me when I warn you. That after you have used up all of her resources, after you have drained every drop of clean water, after you have cut down the last tree, after you have killed the last animal. After you have squeezed all the life out of this planet, to fill your pockets, when this world can’t provide for any of us anymore and there is no profit to be made.

I want you to gather all that money that you accumulated, burn it all, stand next to the flame, and maybe – just maybe. You’ll know what global warming feels like.

So, feel the pressure, because climate change is more relevant that it has ever been before.

The next 12 years will be the most important and crucial years in the history of mankind. Because what we decide to as a race, will literally mean life or death. We can either die together or live together.

I don’t know about you, but I choose to live. I choose to see this to the end. I choose to make this happen, because a great man once said. “There are three types of people in this world; those that make things happen, those that watch things happen, and those that don’t know what happened.”

And to just think, if we all cared about the environment the same way we cared about Kylie’s infant daughter, then I wouldn’t need to be talking to you right now.

You need to realize what’s important; you need to realize the blessing that we have been given. This planet is our home, perfectly designed to sustain all forms of life. We can no longer ignore Mother Nature; we can no longer spend any more energy negotiating in congress.

The time has come, no longer can we standby and let someone else decide the fate of planet Earth.

You see, great societal change is not just a thing of the past, it didn’t just end with the Civils Rights Movement, it didn’t just end with The Women’s Right’s Movement.

No, humanity is in a constant state of improvement, the smarter we get as a society – the more we can accomplish.

I believe that this generation has yet to leave their mark on history. So, ladies & gentlemen I introduce to you, the Environmental Movement. And no, this change will not be championed by me, I cannot do it alone, this change will be championed by you.

It is all up to you. You need to decide how much this planet means to you. Together we can be the generation that saved planet Earth. Together we will champion this revolution.

Because if we don’t, then together we will all die.
